EDU 801 Experimental Research Methods: Introduction to Survey Research

Dr. Elsa-Sofia Morote

Department of Educational Administration Leadership and Technology

The purpose of this course is provide doctoral students with an overview of basic research methods, both quantitative and qualitative. The course will also provide a basic introduction to corresponding data analysis procedures for conducting research in the social sciences. Further, the course will provide a context for research methods by applying them to potential research problems that are of interest to students. This course is a prerequisite for more advanced courses in quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Problem statement and research questions

Students will review sample Problem Statements from various sources. Students will then draft a preliminary problem based on their own research interest. The statements will then be reviewed and critiqued in class for clarification. Students will then draft research questions to support the problem statement.
